Snowflake Obsidian is a type of naturally occurring volcanic glass formed from rapidly cooling lava that has a high silica content. The "snowflakes" that you see are made up of cristobalite, a type of quartz. While snowflake obsidian can be found all over the world the most popular mining locations are Mexico, Peru, Canada, New Zealand, and the U.S.
Snowflake Obsidian is believed to be a stone of purity. Thought to help you recognize and release "wrong thinking", break up stressful mental patterns and clear you mind of chaotic thoughts. It promotes balance of your mind, body and aura while protecting you from negative energy by blocking it from entering your auric field.

I try to get the most accurate photo possible, but due to natural variations in the stones, and individual monitor settings, there may be slight variations in colors from the photo to the stone in hand. Many times the actual stone is much better than my photo, as the camera does not always cooperate with me!
